Clacton-on-Sea Holiday
Our residents enjoyed a summer holiday at Orchards holiday village in Clacton-on-Sea from the 29th June to 3rd July. The 5 day break gave everyone the opportunity to relax, enjoy a change of scenery and take part in various activities such as exploring the local area and spending quality time with friends and staff. This has given residents the opportunity to create and share memorable experiences throughout the trip.
These trips help reduce isolation and promote emotional wellbeing, encourage social interactions and create experiences that our residents look forward to all year. We were pleased to see everyone make the most of this opportunity and will be planning future trips.
Working in Partnership
We have started working with Waltham Forest College, which will give students the opportunity to gain experience in business administration and help them develop their skills for their future careers while supporting the work we do at Airthrie Homes.
We have welcomed a T level business student who has been working alongside the business admin team at Airthrie. During their placement the student has gained experience in supporting office operations, maintaining records and organising documents. Working alongside different staff members has helped the student develop professionalism and a greater understanding of how business administration supports the delivery of high-quality care services.
Activities
At Airthrie we have also recently introduced a new activities coordinator who works with the residents and staff to support and provide new activities. By working closely with the residents and staff, the coordinator has been getting to know each individuals interests, hobbies and preferences, which is important at Airthrie because we want everyone to feel valued and seen. This will help us ensure that each resident is participating in activities that they actually enjoy. These activities also help residents develop digital/technology skills and as well as creativity.
Since introducing the activities coordinator, we have started seeing a positive impact as residents are actively participating in arts and crafts, gardening and day trips. The purpose of these activities is to provide therapeutic benefits and encourage teamwork and communication.
